Category News
BussinessTech just released an article regarding Semigration to the Western Cape. Analyzed data from Lightstone Properties shows that more "Gauteng residents and semigrants from other South African provinces are buying properties in the Western Cape."
The data has revealed that homeowners are moving out of South Africa's bustling economic centre, with an increase of 4% - 39% in 2019 to 2022 to 43% in 2021.
What is the reason for moving?
It can be said that these semigrants are choosing to move away from the crime and busyness of Gauteng, to enjoy a 'slower, safer, quality lifestyle' in smaller towns within the Western Cape.
It is also no secret that the municipality in the Western Cape is better managed than in other parts of the country, and semigrants are attracted to this pull factor.
Where are they moving to?
The top destinations for these semigrants in the Western Cape are Mossel Bay, Milnerton and Cape Town city itself. The following locations are in order of highest volume to lowest volume of semigrants moving to the area:
- Mossel Bay
- Milnerton
- Cape Town
- George
- Somerset West
- Groot Brakrivier
- Hermanus
- Durbanville
- Plettenberg Bay
- Knysna
